How It All Started
Many people have asked me how I got into the swimming pool business. After graduating from Nicholls State, I was employed as a 9th grade Science teacher with the luxury of having summers off. Having previously spent my summers at Legion Park Pool in Houma as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, I was offered the opportunity to serve as Pool Manager and Director of the Red Cross Swimming Program. Managing thirty-five employees, hundreds of recreational swimmers, and the local children taking swimming lessons taught me much about operating a business. While working there, I soon became the regional expert on pool equipment and water chemistry. With the lack of experienced pool contractors in the Houma area, an opportunity arose for me to open a pool construction and service business. Eventually I sold the business in Houma and moved to the Greater New Orleans area. There, I worked for several local pool companies crafting my skills and in 1994 I started Pleasure Pools in Metairie.
Why Pleasure Pools
When I started Pleasure Pools, I set several goals for myself. I wanted to be regarded as the top pool builder in the Greater New Orleans area, offer my clients a comprehensive slate of pool services, and gain national recognition in swimming pool design. Early on I found that many pool owners were thoroughly dissatisfied with their pools because their builder had not stayed around long enough to provide the proper training and support once their project was completed. Without that basic knowledge and source of guidance, they were plagued with problems that a simple understanding of pool hydraulics and water chemistry would have resolved. Taking what I learned in the previous years and the feedback from friends and colleagues in the industry lead me to where we are today.
Pleasure Pools Today
Today, my wife Cindy and I administer what we feel is the best Full-Service pool company in South Louisiana. With our 9000sqf facility, located just off the Causeway in Mandeville, we employee over 15 industry trained professionals who are dedicated to providing top-level service, quality craftsmanship, and superior equipment for the end-user. We offer a wide range of services from new pool installation, pool renovations, equipment service & repair, and weekly pool cleaning. Our admin team, Sales Division, and fleet of fully stocked service vehicles are always here to provide you with the services you expect and the attention to detail that this industry demands.
